Yellow moong dal is a simple and delicious North Indian dal made with split yellow moong dal and mixed with spices. This is a tasty combination and goes great with any rotis, parathas or plain steamed rice. It is a flavorful dal which is quick and easy to make. Moong dal fry is also healthy because it is protein rich and very light on stomach. The yellow moong dal is easily digestible compared to other dals. Similarly you can make dal khichdi which is again prepared with yellow moong dal. Serve moong dal with rotis or rice for a healthy wholesome meal. Moong Dal Tadka, with flavorful seasonings tempered in hot oil or ghee, and Moong Dal Fry, which includes lightly sautéing aromatics before mixing with the cooked moong lentils.

Ingredients

  1. 🎯 For Boiling Dal :--
  2. 1/2 cupyellow moong dal (split green grams without skin)
  3. 1/2 tspturmeric powder
  4. 1/2 tspsalt
  5. 1.5 cupwater
  6. 🎯 For Tempering Dal :--
  7. 1 tbspoil
  8. 1 tspghee
  9. 1 tspmustard seeds
  10. 1 tspcumin seeds
  11. 8-10sweet curry leaves
  12. 1no big size finely chopped onion
  13. 1/4 tspasafoetida
  14. 1no big size finely chopped tomatoes
  15. Garlic chutney (10 to 12 garlic pods + 3 tsp red chilly powder)
  16. 1/2 tspturmeric powder
  17. 1 tspcoriander cumin powder
  18. 1/4 tspgaram masala
  19. 4 tbspwater
  20. Salt as per taste
  21. 3/4 cuphot water
  22. 1/2 tspkitchen King masala
  23. 2 tbspfinely chopped green coriander leaves
  24. 1/2no lemon juice
  25. 👉 For Garnishing :--
  26. leavesGreen coriander
  27. 1no lemon slices

Steps

    First of all, wash the yellow moong dal with two to three water and add it to the pressure cooker, then add turmeric powder, salt and water and boil the dal on medium flame for 2 whistles.

    Now add garlic bud and red chilli powder to the mashar and make a chutney. Now add turmeric powder, coriander cumin powder, garam masala and water to this garlic chutney and make a masala paste.

    Now heat oil and ghee in a pan, add mustard seeds and cumin seeds, when mustard seeds and cumin seeds are crackle, add sweet curry leaves.

    After that, add finely chopped onion to this and saute for 2 to 3 minutes until the onion becomes transparent, add asafoetida and mix very well. Now add finely chopped tomato and salt to this and mix well and saute till the tomato becomes soft. Then add the garlic chutney masala paste made to this and mix well.

    Now add boiled yellow moong dal to this and mix well, add hot water to this and mix well, let this dal boil for 2 to 3 minutes on slow gas flame.

    Now turn off the gas flame and add kitchen king masala, finely chopped green coriander leaves and lemon juice and mix very well.

    Now our very tasty yellow moong dal fry is ready to serve. Garnish this dal with green coriander leaves and lemon slices and serve hot. Serve this dal with paratha, bhakhri, poori and rice.
