Ingredients

35 minutes - 40 minutes

  1. 1 cupMasoor Dal
  2. 1 cupRice
  3. 1Bay Leaf, 1 dry Red Chilli
  4. 1 tspOnion seeds
  5. 1/4 tspTurmeric powder
  6. 2medium Onion
  7. 4green chilli
  8. Salt as required
  9. 1 tbspMustard Oil
  10. 1/2Ginger
  11. Salt as required
  12. Water as required
  13. 1 tspMustard Oil (final garnish)

    Assemble ingredients

    Soak Masoor Dal for 30 minutes and soak rice for one hour.

    Put Dal + rice to boil in sufficient water by adding salt +green chilli + turmeric powder, boil till Dal and rice have cooked upto 80 %

    In moderately heated pan add oil, allow to heat then add onion seeds + bay leaf + dry red chilli and allow to sizzle, then add chopped onion and ginger and sauté till golden brown.

    Then transfer the onion temper to Dal + rice mixture and mix well. Cook further for 6-7 minutes till Dal and rice is bit mushy and well
    Cooked. Lastly drizzle mustard oil and simmer for 1 minute. Dish is done.

    Serve with potato fries / or any other fries/ etc
