Ingredients

  • 500 mlFlour
  • 20 mlBaking Powder
  • 3 mlSalt
  • 60 mlcold hard Margarine, cubed
  • 1Egg
  • 150 mlice cold Water
  • 1Egg, whisked for egg wash

Steps

  1. 1

    Preheat the oven to 220°C.

    Combine the Flour, Baking Powder and Salt in a large bowl.

    Rub the cold hard Margarine into the flour mixture.

    Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients.
    NB do not overwork the mixture

    In a separate bowl, whisk the Egg and Water.

    Gently press the dough flat. Using a glass or cookie cutter press circles into the dough.

  7. 7

    Place the scones on a prepared baking sheet. With a kitchen brush, brush the Egg Wash over the scones. Bake for 10 minutes or until golden brown
