A delicious curry with the white portion of watermelon. The curry has a natural sweetish taste of watermelon and can be served with meals.

Soak gram dal in water for at least 1 hour. Cook in a pressure cooker till whistle blows once.

Cut watermelon into slices and separate the red pulp. Remove the green skin of watermelon. Cut the white portion into small pieces.

In a kadhai, add oil and switch on the burner. When the oil becomes hot, add cumin seed, bay leaf and asafoetida powder. Add chopped watermelon into the hot oil and mix properly. Sauté for 2-3 minutes. Add boiled gram dal into the kadhai and mix well. Pour 1/2cup water and cook for 5mins or until properly cooked.

Transfer the curry into a serving bowl.
