Make the dumplings and the gravy at the same time. To make the dumplings:
Cook the turnip in a pressure cooker to 50%. You may cook toor dal with water in a bowl in the pressure cooker at the same time, Keep the bowl containing toor dal in the cooker. Cover Follow manufacturer’s direction for operating the pressure cooker. remove the cooked item from the cooker. grate the turnip - 4
. Place the grated turnip in a bowl. Add besan and rice flour, salt, chili powder, spice powders, ginger garlic paste, baking soda, finely chopped turnip leaves, coriander leaves, little water and knead well by hand and make small balls. Put ¼ cup of rice flour on a plate, roll the balls in the flour and coat them. Do not steam.

In a heavy bottomed saucepan over medium flame, heat oil; add mustard seeds, Let the seeds burst open. Then add cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds and in hot oil. After a minute, add turmeric, chillies and curry leaves. Add onions and saute for 3 minutes. Add garlic, tomato and saute- 4 minutes.let the tomatoes soften. Add 10 cups water and boil it for 10 minutes.. Add sambar powder and boil it. Add the balls one at a time to the boiling gravy.

. When cooked the balls will float.
Take the cooked balls with a slotted spoon and put them in a bowl. Keep aside - 7
Add the cooked lentils to the gravy let it boil, reduce the flame. After 4 minutes add coconut milk and stir.- 2 minutes. Add required salt and stir. Turn off the stove and the gravy is ready.
