Massor daal (brown lentil) pulao

Thinking of one pot meals bring to mind – soup, risotto, stew, pilaf/pulao, and chilli. If you are familiar with pulao then you know, it is a flavourful one pot rice dish and is big part of Pakistani cuisine. While it is mostly made with meat or poultry but trust me, vegetarian pulaos also exist. Today I am adding this massor daal (brown lentil) pulao in an easy one-pot meal.
Savour fragrant rice, filling masoor daal, and a blend of spicy flavours that produce a symphony of flavour with each bite.
This lentil pulao is full of traditional flavours and easy enough to make on a weekends and impressive enough to serve for brunch or dinner.
I have used whole brown lentils, popularly called sabut masoor ki daal in Urdu. This lentil is brown in colour from outside, and orange from inside.
Here, brown lentils have been cooked with some basmati rice to give you a wholesome meatless rice meal. Everything gets cooked together and gives you a delicious whole some meal. Once you try this, you will keep making this brown lentil rice recipe again and again on busy days All you have to do is dump and go.
