Ingredients

40 min
  • 1 loafbrioche bread (such as Brioche Pasquier)
  • 2 cupswhole milk (500 ml)
  • 2 cupsheavy cream (500 ml)
  • Peel from half a lemon
  • Peel from half an orange
  • 1cinnamon stick
  • Vanilla extract
  • Brown sugar
  • Ground cinnamon, to taste
  • Butter

  1. 1

    Simmer the milk, heavy cream, lemon peel, orange peel, cinnamon stick, and vanilla extract over low heat for 30 minutes to infuse the flavors.

  2. 2

    Cut the brioche into thick slices.

  3. 3

    Place the brioche slices in a dish and pour the infused milk mixture over them. Refrigerate.

  4. 4

    Sprinkle ground cinnamon to taste and serve with ice cream if desired.

  5. 5

    Heat a skillet with butter and cook the soaked brioche slices over low heat, sprinkling brown sugar on each side.
