Ingredients

  • 1/2 CupFada/ Dalia (Broken wheat)
  • 2 tbspsGhee
  • 1/4 cupJaggery Powder
  • 8Cashew nuts
  • 8Almonds
  • 10-12Kismis /Raisins
  • Few Strands Saffron
  • 1/2 inchCinnamon stick/ Dalchini
  • 2Green Cardamom
  • 1 pinchGreen Cardamom powder
  • 3 Cloves/ Laung
  • 2.5 cupsHot water

    In a pressure cooker heat ghee, fry the cashews, almond and raisins and keep it aside. Once cooled, chop the nuts as per your desire.

    In the same leftover ghee, add in the cinnamon stick, cloves and cracked green cardamom, once it starts crackling, add in the Fada / Dalia and roast it for 5 minutes or so on low flame, till it browns a bit and nutty roasted aroma starts smelling.

    Add in the hot water, stir and mix. Add the fried nuts, raisins and saffron and stir it. Leave few nuts and strands of saffron to garnish.

  4. 4

    Close the cooker and cook it for 3-5 whistles depending on your pressure cooker, till the Fada becomes soft.

  5. 5

    Once the pressure is released from the pressure cooker, open it and add in the jaggery powder and green cardamom powder and mix it. The jaggery starts melting in the heat. Cook for another 5 minutes or so on low flame, till jaggery melts completely and the extra water if any starts drying and your Laapsi starts coming together and leaving the cooker. Serve while still warm. Garnish with nuts and saffron. Enjoy !
