Ingredients

Prep time -10 mins, Cooking -40 mins
4-5 servings
  1. 500 gmsmutton
  2. 1/2 cupChana Dal
  3. 2 Tbspginger plus garlic paste
  4. 1large onion sliced
  5. 1large tomato sliced
  6. 2-3green chillies slit
  7. 1/2 cupwhisked yogurt
  8. 1.5 cupshot water
  9. 1/4 cupmustard oil
  10. Coarse Spice powder
  11. 1 Tbspwhole coriander seeds
  12. 1 Tbspcumin seeds
  13. 1 Tbspwhole black peppercorns
  14. 1bay leaf
  15. 2-3black cardamoms
  16. Whole spice
  17. 2black cardamoms
  18. 1bay leaf
  19. Spice powder
  20. 1 tspred chilli powder
  21. 1/2 tspturmeric powder
  22. 1 tspblack pepper powder
  23. 1 tspcoriander powder
  24. 1/4 tspsalt
  25. Garnish with ginger julienned, coriander leaves

Steps

Prep time -10 mins, Cooking -40 mins
  1. 1

    Coarse spice powder - In a pan add whole coriander, cumin, bay leaf, whole black peppercorns, black cardamoms, roast for 2-3 mins, add to blender and make a coarse powder, set aside

    In a wok heat mustard oil, add sliced onion and cook till golden in colour

    Add washed mutton and sauté for 5 mins, add ginger garlic paste and cook for 5 mins

    Add half boiled Chana Dal. Add spice powder of turmeric, red chilli, coriander, cumin, black peppercorns and mix well, cook for 10 mins

    Add little water and stir once.

    Add chopped tomatoes, slit green chiliies and adequate water to cook the mutton. Add whisked yoghurt, mix. Cover to cook for 25 -30 mins

    Once done, set aside

    Plate with garnish of ginger julienned, coriander leaves

Tips

Chana Dal should be soaked overnight and half boiled
