Tropical Quinoa Papaya Boats

Have you ever had food and said, "this the best thing I've ever eaten."
I find myself saying that phrase daily.
Papaya, though, may be the biggest trigger of that thought for me personally. Whether eaten plain or in heaping boats full of sweet and savory goodness, I'm crazy about Papaya. The fact that it may be one of the healthiest fruits aside, the taste is to die for.
I spent a brief amount of time working on a fruit farm in Hawaii, surrounded by Papaya trees, Banana trees, Star fruit and many other tropical fruit you never knew you loved. What's really more accurate is, "tropical fruit is the best thing I've ever eaten."
You're right, I was in heaven. But I was also in hell in a whole other way. Long story short, I ventured to Hawaii to learn how to sustainably farm and all of the intricacies of permaculture. When I arrived, it quickly became clear that I was working for a man who was not "in his right mind," if you will. I ended up working at the family fruit stand 70 hours a week and the only farming consisted of pulling weeds and harvesting sugarcane(which was awesome). I slept in an old abandoned outhouse next to a toilet and watched after 4 crazy toddlers, chopped coconuts, and entertained tourists most of the time, but when I wasn't, I was enjoying fresh tropical fruit.
Have you ever been in a situation that should be paradise, but just doesn't feel right? Yeah, this was one of those. I was eating 30-40 exotic bananas a day, a couple papayas, 6-7 coconuts worth o...

Cooking Instructions
- 1
Optional* Soak Quinoa for 8 hours or overnight.
- 2
Rinse Quinoa thoroughly under hot water. While rinsing, heat water with sea salt and cinnamon stick and bring to a boil. Once boiling add Quinoa and bring to a simmer, cook for 15 minutes. Remove from heat and allow water to be absorbed.
- 3
Wash the Lemon and grate 1/2, set aside. Chop Lemon in half and juice it with a citrus squeezer or simply use your hands. Set aside.
- 4
Dice Pineapple by first cutting two 1"discs off the top if the pineapple after you've chopped off the flower. Stack the discs on top of one another and chop the skin off as if you were cutting an octagon. Next, cut the Pineapple vertically, spacing 1" between each cut. Skip over the core, cutting just around it and removing it(save for smoothies!). Turn 90 Degrees and repeat, making perpendicular cuts to make square pineapple pieces. Set aside.
- 5
Cut Papaya in half length wise. Remove about 75% of the seeds and save in a jar and lace in the fridge. Carve out the Papaya slightly to make more space for the filling.
- 6
De-stem parsley and cilantro, set aside.
- 7
Once the Quinoa has absorbed all of the water, remove cinnamon stick and add lemon juice and zest.
- 8
Next, 75% of parsley and cilantro to the Quinoa.
- 9
Finally, once the Quinoa has cooled down a bit, add the diced pineapple.
- 10
Now stuff the filling into the papaya boats and garnish with the remaining herbs.
- 11
Enjoy!

Pickled Papaya Pickled Papaya
Papaya atchara is the Filipino version of pickled green papaya. This is usually eaten along with fried or grilled foods. I think that chicken inasal is best with some papaya atchara on the side, so does grilled liempo. I love Pickled papaya and I made this for my side dish. Chef Marie Ruth Roman -
Papaya Soup Papaya Soup
On the 7th day after Tet, we take down the festive altar. All the fruits from the offering, like coconut, papaya, and others, are used up, so I grab the papaya to make soup. That way, we have a quick lunch to go with the leftover braised pork and eggs! Minh HayesTranslated from Cookpad Vietnam -

Yummy Papaya ice cream Yummy Papaya ice cream
I seem to like experimenting with anything that I find in the kitchen. My mom had just brought a papaya and I really wanted something cold since it was a hot day. So I decided to do the same as I had done with banana ice cream but since papaya is bitter, I decided to use condensed milk to even it out. Came out Quite successful to me :) Valdivia Castillo -

Papaya Stir-Fry Papaya Stir-Fry
I had this in Okinawa and became addicted! When papaya are cheap, I make this dish! It's also great for bentos!Whenever I make this at home, my husband very happily eats it.Papaya fruit is good too, but please also appreciate this vegetable type papaya.Since this is stir-fried and then simmered, the ingredients become tender, but if you want to keep the crunchy texture of the papaya, you don't need to simmer it. Just add some dashi granules when stir-frying.Adding the whole can of tuna as-is creates a rich flavor, but you can adjust the amount of soy sauce and other ingredients if you want. Authentic Sangria with Red Wine Authentic Sangria with Red Wine
I wanted to make sangria with additive-free wine and organic fruits.Banana makes sangria cloudy, but also very tasty. If you'd like your sangria to stay transparent, omit it (I tried to wrap banana with parchment paper this time as an experiment). Add mango or papaya (these tend to be a bit expensive, so frozen ones are okay) for a tropical flair. A simple Cabernet Sauvignon would be ideal for this. Basically, though, you can use any kind of wine because you add lots of fruits anyway. Whenever you open a new bottle and you don't like it, try making it into a sangria.
