Heat ghee in a pressure cooker and splutter jeera in it. Now add the chopped onions/ ginger and garlic and fry till golden. Add heeng and tomatoes and green chillies and sauté.

Take out a bit of this tempering for later use.

Now add the washed and soaked dals and stir in masala. Add the kasuri methi along with salt/ chilli powder and huldi and mix well.

Pour the water and give a stir. Now pressure cook the dal on high for 2 whistles and then on low gas for at least 15 minutes. Switch off gas and when the pressure releases check the dal and mix very well to make a nice homogeneous pasty consistency. In case you want.. add some water to adjust its consistency. Also if you feel it's not well cooked.. (coz it depends on the quality of the dal)you may cook it further for a few minutes.

Garnish with a little tempering which we had kept aside and serve piping hot with paranthas or rice👍😊ENJOY

Note:The addition of kasuri methi in this takes this simple dal to a different level altogether ☺️do try once please 😍
