Beer Chicken (CrockPot-Slow Cooker)
An adapted version for a slow cooker (CrockPot) that can also be made in a regular pot, though the flavor will be slightly different. Preferably use dark beer (Munich-style beer).
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Rinse the chicken under running water, pat dry with paper towels, and season with salt and pepper on both sides.
- 2
In a platter or bowl, spread a layer of flour, enough to coat the chicken pieces.
- 3
In a deep skillet, pour oil and heat over low heat. Add the chicken pieces and cook until they are slightly browned.
- 4
While the chicken is browning, slice the onion, cut the bell pepper into strips, slice the potatoes thickly, and chop the garlic. In a blender, place the halved tomatoes, add the chopped garlic and the chicken and tomato bouillon cube; blend to make a tomato paste.
- 5
Once the chicken is browned, remove it from the skillet and set aside. In the same oil (the chicken has released some fat), add the onion, sliced potatoes, and bell pepper strips. Stir gradually, and when the onion is slightly browned, add the tomato paste, allspice, and fine herbs, and bring to a boil. Turn off the heat.
- 6
Place the chicken in the slow cooker pot and add the sautéed mixture from the skillet, ensuring the chicken is covered.
- 7
Pour the beer in slowly.
- 8
Cover the pot, plug it in, and set to high temperature.
- 9
After about 3 hours, you'll have delicious beer chicken that can be served with white rice.
- 10
Remember that in these pots, stirring is not necessary. If this will be the main dish, prepare it well in advance. The aroma is indescribable, and you can use light beer if you prefer. If you don't have a slow cooker, you can make it in a regular pot in about half an hour, but the flavor will vary.

Whole CrockPot Chicken Whole CrockPot Chicken
Cook for 8 hours on low or 10 hours on low , depends on your size of crockpot . I used a 5 quart crock and needed to remove the veggies when they were soft and placed the chicken back into the crock without the veggies , if your using a larger size crock you may be able to get away with leaving everything in until chicken is done .... :)Chicken will be done when it’s just falling off the bones ..... Also I ended up setting my crock to high after I took out the veggies for the remaining 3.5 hours of cooking time , you adjust your cooking time according to how quick your crock pot cooks ...... :) Crock Pot Girl 🤡 -

I finally got the opportunity to purchase a Slow Cooker. They were on sale 1/2 price so I was able to afford one, and try it out for the first time when I returned with a wonderful recipe a fellow blogger posted a while back. I remembered how handy it was back in the days when my mom used it, she would prepare all the ingredients toss them into the cooker and off she went to work. So, I thought why not try out a cooker with another delicious recipe, which a friend told me about…if you love Chicken and Balsamic vinegar then you will absolutely adore this recipe. It turned out delicious. 🙂 Foodzesty -
