made these tonight with a few changes which I fixed in the recipe above. if using the cinnamon they do have a lil bite but they are delicious! They are not hard to bite into at all, nice and soft!

Ingredients

  1. 2 cupsugar
  2. 1/2 cuplight corn syrup
  3. 1 cupwater
  4. 1 tspred food coloring
  5. 1 tspcinnamon flavoring (you dont have to use if u dont want)
  6. 8 mediumgranny smith apples (i think are best)
  7. 1butter (just enough for putting on the parchment paper)

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Add water, corn syrup and sugar to a med size heavy bottom sauce pan. Stir just until sugar is dissolved, add on your candy thermometer and boil without stirring til mixture reaches 250°F. Remove from heat and stir in food coloring and flavoring. Let cool slightly, not to much, just for a min or so.

  2. 2

Meanwhile use the butter to grease a baking sheet or wax paper, set aside. Insert sticks into the center of each apple. Once the candy mixture is done dip apple's in one at a time, turning them to get an even coat. Let excess drip off and sit them on your greased sheet to cool. If you are using any toppings now is the time to do them, once u dip in candy, dip in toppings and let cool.

I’m not sure if I made this correctly now, my caramel was chewy but hard at the same time, unfortunately it got stuck in my permanent retainers for a minute, hahah!
