10 Hour Turkey
I know cooking a turkey for 10 hours might seem like madness, but I assure you that it will be the most tender and moist turkey ever
Steps
- 1
Combine all the seasonings in a bowl
- 2
Using your hands, gently loosen the skin from the meat of the turkey. Careful not to tear the skin.
- 3
Using half of the seasonings and rub thoroughly under the loose skin directly onto the meat
- 4
Now rub the remaining half of the seasonings directly onto the skin of the turkey
- 5
Place turkey in a roasting pan and cover. If your roasting pan has a metal rack use that inside the pan
- 6
Bake at 250°F for 9 hours then remove lid. Increase temperature to 350°F and baste the turkey at that time and every 15 minutes for the last 1 hour to brown the skin.
- 7
I do not stuff the turkey as there will be lots of liquid in the roasting pan. So lots of gravy, or use the liquid for soup stalk. Your choice.
- 8
I cook mine overnight so you wake up to the smell of turkey and it frees up the oven for those busy Christmas diners.
