Wash rice 6 to 8 times.Soak rice immediately in water.

Wash and soak urad dal separately.

After 4 or 5 hours, grind rice and urad dal to make a coarse batter.

Add salt and soda.

Leave aside for 8 hours till the batter is fermented.

Smear idli pans with a little oil and cook idlis in cooker.

After the steaming stops, wait for 10 minutes and remove cooker from flame.
