In India diabetes patients are increasing in an alarming rate. 1 in every four people are diabetic. So i think we have to bring a lots of change in our food habit and life style. Today I have made methi machli, fishes in a thick spicy gravy of fenugreek leaves or methi saag. As we all know that methi is very helpful to control diabetes so diabetic patients should eat methi very frequently. And fish contains omega 3 fatty acid which is also very good for health. So this dish is totally guiltfree and healthy dish.

Ingredients

30 minutes
serves 3 people
  • 3 cups packedFresh Methi leaves
  • 4Onion sliced
  • 1 1/2 tspGinger garlic paste
  • 1Tomato large chopped
  • 1/2 tspTurmeric powder
  • 1 tspCumin powder
  • 1 tspCoriander powder
  • 1 tspGaram masala powder
  • 1/2 tspRed chilli powder
  • to tasteSalt
  • 1 tspSugar
  • 1/2 tspCumin seeds
  • 1/2 cupHung curd
  • 2 tspGhee
  • 4-5Green chilli
  • 4 tbspMustard oil
  • 6Fish pieces

Steps

30 minutes
  1. 1

    Heat oil in a pan.

  2. 2

    Fry the sliced onions until golden brown.

  3. 3

    Now add the methi leaves and cook till leaves wilt.

  4. 4

    Add tomato. Cook for 5 minutes.

  5. 5

    Add little water. Let it cool.

  6. 6

    Smear the fish pieces with salt and turmeric powder.

  7. 7

    Shallow fry each fish piece until golden.

  8. 8

    Now make a paste out of the masala.

  9. 9

    Add cumin seeds and let them crackle.

  10. 10

    Add the masala paste, cumin coriander powder, ginger garlic paste salt sugar and cook it for 15 minutes.

    It will start releasing oil after this time.

  12. 12

    Now add fish pieces, garam masala powder, ghee and green chilli and cook covered fot 10 minutes.

    Check seasoning.

  14. 14

    Serve hot with steamed rice, pulao, naan etc.
