Ingredients

30-40 min
  • 200 gmsJackfruit chopped (you can use seeds if theybare soft)
  • 4 tbspnLobia
  • 2medium sized onion chopped
  • 50 gmsToor dal
  • 1lemon sized Tamarind
  • 1 tablespoonJaggery
  • 1/4 teaspoonTurmeric powder
  • Curry leaves few sprigs
  • 1 pinchHing
  • to tasteSalt
  • Tadka (in a tspn of oil add mustard and little jeera)
  • To grind
  • 3 tbspnCoconut
  • 1Onion
  • 5-6 podsGarlic
  • 6-8Red chilli(as per your taste)
  • 1 tspnHome made Sambar powder

Steps

30-40 min
  1. 1

    First rinse toor dal and add chopped jackfruit, onion, lobia and enough water and pressure cook for 3 whistles until the dal is cooked nice and soft..

  2. 2

    In a mixer add all the ingredients under 'to grind' and make a smoothe paste using water.

  3. 3

    Once dal and veggies are cooked transfer them into a pan and add the grinded paste, tamarind, jaggery, salt, hing, curry leaves, turmeric, and tadka, mix well and bring it to boil.. add water if required..

  4. 4

    Serve hot with rice and a tspn of ghee or dosa, plain parathas..
