I wanted to try something different than Arborio rice. The black rice takes longer to cook, as its a heartier grain, but very tasty! You can add seafood, chicken, and be creative with the vegetables you want to add!

I wanted to try something different than Arborio rice. The black rice takes longer to cook, as its a heartier grain, but very tasty! You can add seafood, chicken, and be creative with the vegetables you want to add!

Ingredients

6 servings
  1. 1 cupblack rice
  2. 1 tbspbutter
  3. 2 tbspolive oil, extra virgin
  4. 1 tbspgarlic, minced
  5. 1/4 cuponion, diced
  6. 1/2 tspfresh ginger, minced (or a teaspoon of powdered ginger)
  7. 1medium carrot, julienned
  8. 3/4 tsptumeric
  9. 3 1/2 cupchicken broth or vegetable broth
  10. 1salt to taste
  11. 2 cupkale, chopped

Cooking Instructions

    Over medium heat, Heat Olive oil and butter in a medium sized sauce pan, once heated, add garlic, gsinger and onion. Sautee until tender

    Add black rice and stir until the rice is coated with olive oil and butter

  3. 3

    Start adding your broth, 1/2 cup at a time. Do not Add more until the rice has mostly soaked up the liquid. Keep stirring And. Adding liquid until rice is tender.

    Add carrots and turmeric aftera cup and a half of adding broth

  5. 5

    When your rice is nearly finished, stir in kale

  6. 6

    Let the kale become tender. Enjoy!
