Sweet Chili

I've never been a fan of spicy food but had been told by many that making chili was an inexpensive and easy meal to prepare for a medium to large size family. I started off making a spicy version but barely ate any myself. In order to eat with my family I'd separate my portion before adding spice but the result was bland. Instead, I tried adding things to dull the spiciness. It was better, but still not great. When my kids were young they were wary of the spicy kind too and I'd separate theirs as well. I realized there were more that preferred sweet to spicy, so I decided to cook it how i liked it and let those who liked spicy be the ones to add stuff. It took years to settle on this recipe but I found that even people who like a hot chili enjoyed my sweet version for a change of pace..Its great for functions, and other parents especially, always ask me for the recipe. These days, my sweet chili is known well enough within my circle that people request it.
