This is a rich and tasty beef casserole which is delicious enough to serve at a dinner party. It can be prepared in advance and then reheated when required. I serve it with mashed potatoes to soak up all the juices.

Steps

Fry the cubed beef in the hot oil in a heavy cooking pot until browned (you might have to do this in batches).

Add the mushrooms, olives, carrots, garlic, tomato paste, bacon,
anchovies and thyme and fry for a couple of minutes. - 3
Add the stock cube, salt and pepper and wine and water. Bring to a boil.

Put into the oven at 150 degrees.

After an hour and a half add onions and return pan to oven for a further half an hour.

Serve with mashed potatoes.
