Ingredients

2 to 3 people
  • 1 cupUncooked Rice or 4 cups Cooked Rice
  • 4Tomatoes(300g)
  • 3 tbspOil
  • 3/4 tspMustard
  • 2 tspSplit Chickpeas/Bengal gram dal/Chanadal
  • 1 tbspSplit Blackgram/Urad dal
  • 1/4 tspAsafoetida/Hing Powder
  • 7Curry Leaves
  • 2 pinchFenugreek Seeds
  • 1/4 tspTurmeric Powder
  • 2 tspSambar Powder
  • 1/2 tspRed Chilli Powder
  • 2 tspSalt

Steps

30 mins
  1. 1

    Cook 1 cup rice with sufficient water. Spread the cooked rice in a plate. Cool down.

  2. 2

    Heat oil. Pop up mustard. Add channa dal and urad dal. Stir for a while.

  3. 3

    Now add in the hing powder, curry leaves and fenugreek seeds.

  4. 4

    Add finely chopped tomatoes, all spice powders and salt.

  5. 5

    Cook till oil separates.

  6. 6

    Tomato Thokku/Gojju is ready.

  7. 7

    Add this thokku/gojju to rice. Mix well.

  8. 8

    Offer South Indian Tomato Rice to Lord Sri Krishna and honor Krishna Prasadam.
