Ingredients

  1. 2 cupsrice
  2. 1 cupmixed pulses
  3. 2medium size onions cut into lengthwise
  4. 1tomato finely chopped
  5. 2/4 cupfresh green peas
  6. 1potato pill & cut into slices
  7. 5-6crushed garlic cloves
  8. 2green chillies finely chopped
  9. 2dry red chillies
  10. 1 tspcumin seeds
  11. 1 tsp dry grated coconut ground together
  12. 2bay leaves
  13. 1/2 tspmustard seeds
  14. 1/2 tspturmeric powder
  15. 1/4 tspasafoetida
  16. 2 tspgoda Masala
  17. leavesFew chopped fresh coriander
  18. Salt as per taste
  19. 4 cupsBoiled water

Cooking Instructions

    Wash rice & mixed pulses together & drain.

    Heat oil in a pressure cooker, add mustard seeds, bay leaves, slit green chillies, dry red chillies, asafoetida.

    Add chopped onion & saute until turns trasculent.

  4. 4

    Add crushed garlic cloves & saute until the raw aroma of garlic goes away.

  5. 5

    Add chopped tomatoes saute for a minute.

  6. 6

    Then add fresh green peas and potato slices.

  7. 7

    Add turmeric powder, goda masala, mixture of jeera & dry coconut ground together. Fry for 2 minutes.

    Add warm water, salt and jaggery.

  9. 9

    Pressure cook for 4 whistles.

    When cooled down completely remove the lid.

  11. 11

    Garnish with fresh chopped coriander leaves.

  12. 12

    Serve masala khichadi drizzle with tsp of ghee.
