My mother was a simple lady.She was respected by all the members of our combined family. Being the eldest in the family , every member sought her advice.
Sometime she used to make rice tahiri and served with curd ,Papad and pickle.Till today this is my comfort food. Whenever I want to make some light food I go for this.

Clean and soak rice in water for half an hour.

By that time chop and prepare all the vegetables.

Heat ghee in a cooker. Put cumin seeds let them crackle then add jejpatta,cardamom,cloves,black pepper. Add chopped onion. Saute it till pinkish in colour. Add turmeric powder Add all vegetables saute them too.

Strain water from rice and add in.Saute them too.

Now put cashewnuts and kishmish.Lastly pour water and salt.

Close the lid of cooker.Let it cook on medium heat for 10 min.

Let the cooker steam settle then open the lid. Garnish with coriander.

Serve with papad,curd and pickle.
