Ingredients

6 servings
  1. 1/2 lbuncooked turkey sausage
  2. 2 tspolive oil, extra virgin
  3. 2yellow bell peppers, diced
  4. 1onion, diced
  5. 1/2 cupred wine
  6. 1 1/2 tbspgarlic, minced
  7. 28 ozcrushed tomatoes
  8. 1/2 tspred pepper, flakes
  9. 1/4 tspsalt
  10. 8 ozuncooked whole wheat fusilli pasta
  11. 1/3 cupfresh basil, chopped

Steps

    Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil.

  2. 2

    In a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat, cook sausage, stirring and breaking up meat with back of a wooden spoon, until cooked through, about 3 to 5 minutes. Set aside.

    Heat oil in same skillet. Add yellow peppers and onion; cook, stirring frequently, until vegetables are lightly colored and crisp-tender, about 5 minutes.

    Add wine and garlic; cook until most of liquid evaporates, about 1 minute. Add tomatoes, crushed red pepper, salt and browned sausage; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover and simmer until vegetables are tender and sauce is heated through, about 10 minutes.

    While sauce simmers, add pasta to boiling water and cook according to package instructions. Drain pasta; return to pot. Add sauce and basil; toss to mix and coat.

All of the descriptions on my recipes include the new "Smartpoints" value on Weight Watchers for each serving. Some are duplicates from others that I found online, with modifications to reduce the number of points or remove/substitute ingredients my husband and/or I don't like.I'm still new to the kitchen and cooking for two (normally I make recipes for 4 and pack the leftovers for lunch the next day) and am looking to learn more. If you have any suggestions for any of my recipes regarding ingredients or cooking methods please send me a message!!
