Steps

Wash and soak the daal for 30 minutes

Now boil water in a deep pot

Add daal and boil adding salt and turmeric powder

When the daal is half done add the rice and boil well

On the other side heat a wok add oil and temper cumin seed bay leaf and red chilli whole

Now add all the masalas,ginger saute well adding salt and turmeric powder

Add sugar and green chillies

Now pour this into the pot with boiling daal and rice

Mix well and give a good boil

Garnish it with ghee

Serve with onion fritters or any other fried side dish
