Ingredients

30 minutes
2 servings
  • 1 cupsoya chunks
  • 1 cupcurd / yogurt thick
  • 1/4 tspturmeric
  • 1 tspkashmiri red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tspginger garlic paste
  • 1 tbspbiryani masala powder
  • 1/2 tspsalt
  • 1/2carrot chopped
  • 1small potato cubed
  • 1/2capsicum cubed
  • 1/2onion petals
  • other ingredients:
  • 2 tbsp +1 tsp ghee / clarified butter
  • 1bay leaf
  • 1 inchcinnamon
  • 5cloves
  • 4cardamom
  • 1/2 tsppepper
  • 1 tspcumin
  • 1onion finely chopped
  • 1/2 tspginger garlic paste
  • 1& 1/2 cupbasmati rice soaked
  • 3/4 tspsalt
  • 3 tbspfried onions
  • 1/2 tspbiryani masala powder
  • 3 tbspcoriander & mint chopped
  • 2 1/4 cupwater

Steps

30 minutes
  1. 1

    Firstly, marinate vegetables and soya chunks in curd along with spices.

  2. 2

    In a pressure cooker heat 2 tbsp ghee and saute spices.
    additionally add in 1 onion and saute well followed by ½ tsp ginger garlic paste.

  3. 3

    Add the prepared marinated soya and vegetables to the cooker and level them out.
    now add 1½ cup of basmati rice (soaked for 20 minutes) and spread evenly over marinated soya.

  4. 4

    Sprinkle ¾ tsp salt, 3 tbsp fried onions, ½ tsp biryani masala powder, 3 tbsp coriander & mint and 1 tsp ghee.

  5. 5

    Then pour 2¼ cup of water from sides.
    cover and pressure cook for 2 whistles on medium flame.

  6. 6

    Finally, serve the soya biryani along with mirchi ki chutney and raita.
