It usually is an everyday affair for my family. They love it so much. As it takes a little extra bit of time, it usually adorns the dining table once a Week for sure. Though it is a must have on weekends, but that is for an entire bunch of friends and relatives exclusively. That cannot be ignored either. They would just hang around compulsorily. So what more to say than this. Let's Eat!

Ingredients

40 minutes
4 servings
  1. 2 cups(FOR THE PARATHA DOUGH) Wheat flour
  2. 1 tspsalt
  3. 1 tbspoil
  4. 2 cupschickpeas (soaked overnight)
  5. 1large onion chopped
  6. 1 tspcumin powder
  7. 1/2 tspturmeric
  8. 1 tspcrushed coriander seeds
  9. 2finely chopped green chillies
  10. 1 tspsalt
  11. 1/2 tspgaram masala
  12. 2 tbspoil
  13. 1 tspchole masala
  14. 1 tbspchopped coriander
  15. for the halwa
  16. 1 cupsemolina
  17. 2-3 tbspghee
  18. 2 tbspmixed dry nuts chopped
  19. 6-7 tbspsugar
  20. 1/2-3/4 cupmilk

Steps

  1. 1

    Knead a smooth dough using all the ingredients for the paratha. Use water as required.

  2. 2

    Cover and keep aside for 15 minutes. Roll into big or medium sized parathas as desired. Cook them well smearing ghee or oil. Stack them up in casserole to keep them soft and warm.

  3. 3

    Boil chickpeas using salt and turmeric. Do not over boil them. Heat oil in a pan. Add coriander seeds and ginger garlic paste. Saute for a few seconds and then add chopped onion. Saute until done with all the spices added.

  4. 4

    Finally add the boiled chickpeas. Cover and simmer for a few minutes. Garnish with coriander leaves. Adjust salt at this point. Sprinkle garam masala too.

  5. 5

    As for the halwa, heat ghee and roast semolina until fragrant and done. Stir in sugar and milk after about 6-7 minutes of roasting. Keep stirring along until ghee starts separating. Garnish with dry nuts of choice.

    Serve this piping hot breakfast to your loved ones and relish it's awesome taste and aroma. You will definitely love it. Enjoy!
