Jaggery is a kind of unrefined sugar. Raw, concentrated sugarcane juice is boiled until it becomes solid and can be formed into blocks. It has the slight bitterness of molasses and the richness of caramel. Jaggery used commonly throughout India, Afganistan, Iran and south-west Asia (in Hindi it’s known as Gur). Jaggery is rich in iron and helps anemic patients. It is also a good sauce of magnesium, potassium, iron, selenium & also contains a moderate amount of calcium, phosphorus & zinc, it also helps in the purification of blood. A healthier alternative to white refined sugar, jaggery can be used in many Indian desserts leaving a distinct flavor. In Winters, it keeps the body warm, helps treat cold, cough and controls the temperature of the body.

My name is Rupali and I grew up in Chandigarh, one of the most beautiful cities in India. Chandigarh is the capital of Punjab, a state which is famous for cuisine high in butter. Currently, I live in Purmerend. It is a municipality and a city in the Netherlands, in the province of North Holland. The city is surrounded by polders, such as the Purmer, Beemster and the Wormer.Reyansh my naughty kid and Manoj my fitness freak husband inspires me to cook/bake healthy and experiment with food. This is how my passion for cooking started. Please visit my blog for the more healthy recipes. Here is a link - https://madaboutcookingwithrupali.com/
