Masala Gur (Jaggery With Spices) – Winter Special

Jaggery is a kind of unrefined sugar. Raw, concentrated sugarcane juice is boiled until it becomes solid and can be formed into blocks. It has the slight bitterness of molasses and the richness of caramel. Jaggery used commonly throughout India, Afganistan, Iran and south-west Asia (in Hindi it’s known as Gur). Jaggery is rich in iron and helps anemic patients. It is also a good sauce of magnesium, potassium, iron, selenium & also contains a moderate amount of calcium, phosphorus & zinc, it also helps in the purification of blood. A healthier alternative to white refined sugar, jaggery can be used in many Indian desserts leaving a distinct flavor. Crush gur with the help of rolling pin.
Add ghee in a thick nonstick pan and add crushed gur. Let it melt completely on low flame.
Now add all remaining ingredients. Mix them properly and remove from flame. - 2
Pour prepared masala gur batter in a greased tin. Tab it once.
Let it cool down completely. Loosen it with a knife and invert the pan to remove it.
Store it in an airtight container. - 3
Tips:
Use heavy non-stick pan.
You can add dry fruits of your choice.
Don’t overcook otherwise it will be turned into hard candy.
