This recipe is very close to my heart was passed down to me from my grandmother.
Steps

Mix Flour with Butter, Baking Powder and Milk until it forms a dough.

Roll out dough onto large surface and cut rectangles 3 inches height by 1 inch width. On each rectangle leaving approximately 1-2cm from the top cut 2 lines till the bottom and pleat as you would hair. Press firmly at the bottom so it doesn't open.

In a seperate bowl mix golden Syrup and hot water making it slightly thinner

Fry the pleats in hot oil until Golden Brown

Dip the Pleats in the Golden Syrup mixture and place in serving dish

Optional - sprinkle grated pistachios and almonds on top.

Serve immediately or store in an air tight container
