Mike's Chicago Dogs & Beer Brats

Please forgive the overly detailed directions on such a simple grilled dish. This evening, my 7 year old culinary students were charged with not only creating and grilling their own dishes - but writing down their own instructions and taking their own photos. Also, detailing them for other cooks online. I thought Cookpad was a great medium for them. I really do appreciate your time and patience with this easy to follow recipe fellow Cookpad Chefs. Thanks! ;0) Excelent work lads and lassies!

Steps
- 1
Start with quality dogs and Bratwurst.
- 2
Add 3 quality lager beers to a large pot.
- 3
Smash your garlic with a large knife.
- 4
Quarter your white onions.
- 5
Add salt and pepper to taste.
- 6
Place everything in pot except for toppers.
Boil links for 10 minutes.
- 7
After simmering - slightly score all dogs at a slant before grilling.
- 8
Grill meat just until charred.
- 9
Fully charred meat links - serve hot.
- 10
Chicago Dogs are typically served on Poppy Seed buns but, I was out of them. But steamed BallPark buns are always a good bet in a pinch.
- 11
Top buns with fresh firm tomatoes. Round cut - then halved. Serve chilled.
- 12
Top buns with pickle spears.
Use Clausens Chilled Pickles Spears. They're the tastiest, most firm pickles out there. You'll find them in the refrigerated section of your supermarket.
- 13
Top buns with a quality chilled Yellow Mustard.
- 14
Top buns with chilled Banana Peppers.
- 15
Top buns with chilled Sport Peppers.
- 16
Sprinkle bun tops with Celery Salt.
- 17
Also, add the onions from your beer broth or, fresh chopped onions to the tops of your dogs. Enjoy!
