No special occasion in a Bengali household is complete without Prawn Malaikari or 'Chingri Maacher Malaikari'.
Steps

Marinated the prawns with salt and termeric and set aside.

Heat oil in a pan add cumin seeds, red chilli whole and some spices and saute till the fragrent.

Add onion paste and saute then add ginger garlic paste and saute.

Add green chilli paste and saute then add salt and all the masala except garam masala powder.
- 5
Then add tomato and saute. Cover and cook 5 min and melt the tomatoes then add sugar and satue.

Add marinated prawns and mixed. Cover and cook 6-8 min.

Then add coconut milk and stir and again cover and cook 5 min.
- 8
Add garam masala powder and garnished with green chilli and serve hot.
