Ingredients

Makes 3 braids
  1. 1 sheetpuff pastry dough (find the recipe here: https://cookpad.wasmer.app/fr/recettes/6806240-croissants-ou-pains-au-chocolat?via=sidebar-recipes)
  2. 3 1/2 tablespoonsthick heavy cream (about 50 grams)
  3. 3 1/2 ouncesbacon pieces (about 100 grams)
  4. 3 1/2 ouncesComté or Swiss cheese, shredded (about 100 grams)

Steps

  1. 1

    Cook the bacon pieces in a skillet to render the fat.

  2. 2

    Roll out the dough to about 7 inches wide by 14 inches long (18 cm x 36 cm). Trim the edges to reveal the layers.

  3. 3

    Spread the cream evenly over the dough, then sprinkle the shredded cheese on top.

  4. 4

    Cut the dough into 9 strips, each about 3/4 inch wide (2 cm). Braid the strips to make 3 braids. Add the cooked bacon to each braid.

  5. 5

    Let the dough rest for 2 hours, then bake at 400°F (200°C) for 12 to 15 minutes.

    These are perfect for dinner served with a salad.
