Soak Dal in water for 30 minutes. Clean and drain excess water

Transfer Dal to pressure cooker. Add turmeric, salt and 2.5 cup water

Cook until done, it should not be mushy. Dal should be cooked yet retain it's shape. Lightly mash some portion of dal. Keep it aside. Dal should not be too thick or thin. It should have lightly thicker consistency

Heat ghee in a pan. Add thinly sliced coconut and fry until golden brown. Keep it aside

In Same pan, add hing and cumin seeds. Allow cumin seeds to crackle

Add dry red chillies, cloves, cinnamon, green cardamom and bay leaf and fry for a few seconds.Add ginger and green chilli and fry for another few seconds. You can also add spice powders if required

Pour the seasoning and fried coconut with raisins and sugar to dal and mix well

Serve hot with Luchi, Radha Ballavi or Puris
