Ingredients

90 mins
  • 2 sticksMargarine
  • 2 cupsSugar
  • 2 cupsFlour
  • 5Egg yolks
  • 1 cupButtermilk
  • 1 tsp.Baking soda
  • 1 tsp.Vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp.Salt
  • 1 cupCoconut
  • 1 cupChopped pecans
  • 5Egg whites, stiffly beaten

Steps

90 mins
  1. 1

    Cream margarine and sugar until smooth;

  2. 2

    Add egg yolks, one at a time, beating well.

  3. 3

    Add sifted flour alternately with buttermilk and baking soda.

  4. 4

    Stir in vanilla, coconut and nuts.

  5. 5

    Fold in beaten egg whites last.

  6. 6

    Bake in a grease tube pan at 300 for 45 minutes or in 3 8 inch pans at 350 for 20 to 25 minutes.

    Top with Cream Cheese Frosting
