Steps

Wash and soak the mixed dal for at least 1 hr. Then pressure cook the dal with salt and turmeric till 4 whistles.

In a kadhai or pan heat ghee/oil and add the curry leaves and green chillies. Then add the chopped garlic. Stir. Then add chopped onion and fry till light golden.

Then add chopped tomatoes. Cook till soft. Then add tadka masala and a little water. Cook till oil leaves sides. Then add the cooked mixed dal(5 types... so the name goes panch misali).stir and bring to boil. Add more water if u want a thin consistency.

Garnish with chopped green coriander and serve hot with chapatis or parathas
