Ingredients

1 hour
  1. 4-5apples (pick the ones with the most flavour)
  2. 1vanilla pod
  3. 250 gflour
  4. 125 gsugar
  5. 125 gbutter
  6. 1egg

Cooking Instructions

1 hour
  1. 1

Peel the apples, remove the core and cut into pieces. Cut open the vanilla pod with a sharp knife and place it in a pot with the apples and a splash of water and let it simmer under a lid until the apples are soft enough to mash (10-15 mins).

  2. 2

Mix 125g (150ml) sugar with 125g butter. Add 1 egg and 250g flour (480ml) and knead it together. The dough will be fairly sticky.

  3. 3

Use 3/4 of the dough to cover a baking dish.

  4. 4

Mash the cooked apples - make sure to scrape out the vanilla from the pods - and add to the baking dish.

  5. 5

Roll the remaining dough with your hands into thick strings and place them over the mashed apples into a star pattern.

  6. 6

Bake in the oven at 200 degrees C for about 25 mins until the crust goes brown.
