Gujarati kadhi is different from other kadhi. It does not contain pakodas/fritters in it, it is less thicker then Punjabi or other Kadhis and mainly sweetness is added in kadhi.
Kadhi is traditional Gujarati delicacy prepared with sour curd and gram flour. It tastes best with steamed rice or khichdi. I prepare it by following jain method.

Ingredients

20 minutes
4 persons
  1. 2cup sour curd
  2. 4 tbspgram flour
  3. 1 tbspghee
  4. to taste salt
  5. 1 tbspjaggery
  6. 1 tspmustard seeds
  7. 1 tspcumin seeds
  8. 2cloves
  9. 1inch cinnamon stick
  10. Pinch asafoetida
  11. 1-2green chilles slited
  12. 1 tspfinely chopped ginger
  13. 10-12curry leaves
  14. 2 tspCoriander for garnish

Cooking Instructions

    Heat curd for while.

    Then add gram flour and blend it well. Add 2 cups of water.

  3. 3

    Turn on the flame on slow, add jaggery,salt, ginger, green chillies and curry leaves. Spare few curry leaves for tempering.

    Then heat ghee and prepare tempering of mustard seeds, cumin seeds, clove,cinnamon, curry leaves and asafoetida.

    Then add this tempering into kadhi.

    Cook for few more minutes.

    Turn off the heat. Garnish with coriander. Can replace jaggery with sugar.
