Ingredients

  1. for kofta
  2. 2 cupsgrated bottlegaurd
  3. 1/4 cupbesan/gram flour
  4. to tastesalt
  5. 1/2 tspgaram masala powder
  6. as neededOil for frying
  7. for onion gravy
  8. 2 tspoil
  9. 1onion finely chopped
  10. 1 tspginger-garlic paste
  11. 2 tbspfresh yum tomato puree
  12. 2 tspoil
  13. 1/2 tspcumin seeds
  14. 1bay leaf
  15. 1/2 tspturmeric powder
  16. 1 tspkashmiri red chilli powder
  17. 1 tspcoriander powder
  18. to tastesalt
  19. 1 tbspcurd
  20. 1 tspkasuri methi
  21. 1/2 tspgaram masala powder
  22. 1 tspcoriander leaves finely chopped

Cooking Instructions

    For Kofta preparation

    Peel and grate lauki.

    Take it out in a big bowl
    Add besan and spices
    Mix everything well.

    Heat oil in a wok.
    Put batter in kofta shape and let it fry. Turn when one side is cooked

    Take out from the oil when done from all the sides and drain the excess oil on an absorbent paper.

    For the gravy

    Heat oil and add in whole cumin and bay leaf.
    Add in finely chopped onions and let them sauté.
    Add in ginger garlic paste and sauté more.

    Add in all the dry masala and cook on low flame to avoid burning.

    Add in fresh tomato paste and cook till it leaves the oil.

    Once the masala is nicely roasted add in 1 glass of water for making the gravy. Let it boil nicely before adding the prepared koftas in.

    Let the koftas simmer in the gravy for 5-7 mins on the low flame. Adjust the consistency as per the liking

    Kofta gravy is ready. Relish it with rice or Parantha
