Ingredients

  1. For Dal:
  2. 1/2 cupmoong dal (green and yellow)
  3. 1/4 cuptuvar dal
  4. 1/4 cupmassor dal
  5. 1/4 cupchana dal
  6. 1/4 cupwhite urad dal
  7. 2-3 tspGhee
  8. 1/2 tspmustard seeds
  9. 1/2cumin seeds
  10. Pinchhing
  11. 1onion finely chopped
  12. 1 tspginger garlic paste
  13. 2medium tomato finely chopped
  14. 1/2 tspturmeric powder
  15. 1-2 tspchilli powder (as per taste)
  16. 1 tspkashmiri chilli powder
  17. 1 tspgaram masala
  18. as per tasteSalt
  19. 1Lemon juice
  20. as requiredCoriander leaves for garnishing
  21. For Bati:
  22. 1 1/2 cupwheat flour (mota atta)
  23. 1/2 cupwheat flour
  24. 1/4 cupghee (or oil)
  25. 1 tspcumin seeds
  26. 1 tspajwain
  27. 1/4 tspturmeric powder
  28. as per tasteSalt

Cooking Instructions

    For making bati take all ingredients (wheat flour, turmeric powder, ajwain, cumin seeds, salt and and 5-6 tbsp oil) in a mixing bowl mix it well and knead it together to form a stiff dough.
    Let it rest for 15-20 minutes.
    Now on other hand mix all dal rinse it well and pressure cook for4- 5 whistle.
    Let it cool down.

    Till than divide the dough into small balls and keep them aside for 5 minutes.
    Now preheat oven on 200 degree. Brush the all bati with ghee.

    Place the rolled bati on baking tray and bake for 10 minutes. Then flip over the bati and brush with ghee and further bake other side for 10 minutes.

    Check whether bati is cooked from all sides otherwise cook for more 5 minutes.
    Dip the bati in ghee and soak for 15 minutes. Finally bati is ready.

    Now to make a dal take a pan heat oil/ghee, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds and pinch of hing. Then add chopped onion and green chillies and ginger paste.
    Cook it for 2-3 minutes. Then add tomatoes,salt, turmeric powder and red chilli powder.
    Saute for few minutes until tomato becomes soft.

    Now add dal, 1 cup of water and mix well. Let the dal boil for 5-10 minutes. Finally garnish with chopped coriander leaves and keep it aside.

    Dal Bati is serve with sweet churma, garlic chutney, onion and buttermilk.
