Ingredients

  1. 6apples (Fuji or any variety you like)
  2. 1 tablespooncinnamon
  3. 5 tablespoonsgranulated sugar
  4. 2 3/4 cups(US size) or 450 grams all-purpose flour (cake flour or gluten-free flour can also be used)
  5. 1 tablespoonbaking powder
  6. 1 teaspoonsalt
  7. 1 cup(US size) or 240 ml vegetable oil
  8. 1 1/2 cups(US size) or 300 grams granulated sugar
  9. 1/4 cup(US) or 60 ml orange juice
  10. 1 tablespoonvanilla extract
  11. 4eggs

Cooking Instructions

    Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Peel, core, and cut the apples into thick slices (about 1.5–2 cm).

    Coat the apples with cinnamon and granulated sugar.

    In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

    In a separate bowl, mix the vegetable oil, orange juice, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract well.

    Add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients. Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well until the batter is smooth.

    Grease a pan and pour in half of the batter. Layer half of the cinnamon-sugar-coated apples on top.

    Pour in the remaining batter and layer the rest of the apples on top.

    Bake in the oven for about 1 1/2 hours. The cake is done when a skewer inserted comes out clean.

    While still hot, gently tap the pan on the counter to make it easier to remove the cake.

    Dust with powdered sugar for a beautiful finish.
