Gather all ingredients.

Add all the meatball ingredients into a large mixing bowl.

Mix by hand until thoroughly combined.

Apply olive oil on hands to shape 1 1/2" meatballs.

Oil in a Dutch oven (3 1/2 US qt) over medium heat.

Place the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides.

Transfer the meatballs onto a plate. Set aside.

Add oil and heat to medium low heat.

Add onion/garlic and sauté until onion gets translucent.

Stir in tomato paste and cook 1-2 minutes.

Stir in the remaining sauce ingredients.

Bring it to a simmer and reduce heat to a gentle simmer.

Cover slightly with a lid. Stir at times for 20mins.

Transfer the meatballs to the tomato sauce.

Cover slightly with a lid. Stir at times and cook 30 mins.

Taste, season with salt and pepper as needed.

Serve the meatballs with pasta, garnish with parmesan.
