Decorating a cake with 2 colour fondant

Cooking Instructions

Slice cakes in to three equal pieces

On the board smear a scoop of butter cream at the centre to prevent the cake from moving while decorating

Place one piece of cake on the board and smear some butter cream on the top layer roughly
- 4
Do the same to the next pieces

On getting to the top apply the butter cream all over the cake even on the sides

Using a scraper or a spatula and turntable level the butter cream on the cake taking off the excess

Cut the fondant into two pieces

Add pink food coloring on one piece and fold till the colour is supplied evenly
- 9
Make a mark at the centre of the cake

Spread the White fondant on a clean surface (to attain pure white colour)

Using a pizza cutter cut the fondant horizontally

Place it on one side of the cake

Let it settle smoothly on the cake using a flat scraper attain the cake shape

Gently cut off the excess

Repeat process 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 with the pink fondant

Make two ribbons the white and pink and twist them together (roll over the other to attain the twist design) and cover the lower part and also where the two fondants meet

Using alphabet cutters make the names required

Using sunflower cutters make different sizes of sunflower fondant
- 19
Using gel and painting brushes (the smallest in size) apply gel on the bottom side of the letters and sunflower and place them on the cake

Using fondant steamer spray on the cake to attain the shinny colour (one can use clear alcohol) just a little to avoid messing with the colours
