Basil plants on their last leg with cold weather coming. Wanted to use it in something. Had some wings I needed to use also. How to combine the two?
This recipe was born.
Had a nice subtle basil flavor, not overpowering. I would of liked a lot more heat, but the wife didn't, so these I wouldn't call spicy. But they were flavorful. And pretty easy I might add.

Ingredients

  1. 2 poundschicken wings
  2. Sauce
  3. 3 clovesgarlic
  4. 3Tbl. Butter
  5. 2Tbl. Hot sauce
  6. 2Tbl. Salty liquid (fish, soy or Worcestershire)
  7. 1/2 tsp.Black pepper
  8. 1 handfulfresh basil
  9. 1Tbl. Acid (I used lime juice)

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Cook your wings. I used my air fryer, but deep frying, grilling, baking all valid options.

  2. 2

With the weather turning cold, basil plants won't last long, so I got about a handful of medium to small leaves

  3. 3

About 15 minutes before the wings are done, start the sauce. Put the butter in a small pan on medium low heat

  4. 4

When butter is mostly melted, are garlic pepper, chopped up basil, cook for 3 minutes

  5. 5

Add the rest of the sauce ingredients, simmer until wings are done, change heat to low if it bubbles too much

  6. 6

    Put wings in a bowl

  7. 7

    Pour sauce over wings

  8. 8

    Mix really well.

  9. 9

    Serve

My wife is disabled, she has M.S. And she finds it hard to cook from her wheelchair. I like a variety of foods, but hate tomatoes, so you don't see too many of my recipes with tomatoes on them. Also both of us have type II diabetes, so high carb and sweet is usually not on the menu either. We have one married daughter, and one that now lives in the Seattle area. We live in Texas, USA with our two dogs.Sorry I have not posted in awhile. Been taking chemo and radiation. and it has taken some out of me. Doctor says it seems to be working, so there is that.
