This local beans was prepared by my husband. I hardly eat beans since it causes me severe discomfort.
Cooking Instructions

Soak bean in water overnight or for at least 12 hours.

When ready to cook, drain water, rinse and add beans to pressure pot or a pot half filled with water. In pressure pot, cook for 45mins.

When cooked, drain water from the beans leaving the thicker sludge at the bottom.

Add palm oil, pepper, crayfish, onion, 1 Knorr cube and salt. Stir and allow to cook on medium heat for 20mins.

Check for taste and serve with a bowl of garri in ice cold water.

My mom would freeze her beans also to have them ready for a fast meal. She showed me how to make these growing up so I could pass down the recipe to my kids one day.

Experiment Chili Batch 3
I been having issues with gas build up of the food I have eaten. So I used this Asafetida powder and it didn't bother me with eating beans in my Chili. No gas attacks. It's been used since the time of the Roman Empire. It was used also as an onion and garlic substitute. By the way you can make it without the hot chili's for the kids.

Substitute for Refried beans
I thought I had refried beans and well I didn’t and the recipe I was making called for it, so I came up with this... and because I was already using taco seasoning for the dish I was making I added it to the beans too. Easy Homemade Kinako Made with Leftover Beans
We had lots of leftover Setsubun beans since we are supposed to eat an amount equal to our age in the festival (my husband is 29, I am 25, and my daughter is 1 year old), so I created this recipe. My husband loves kinako with warabi mochi.As I mentioned in the recipe, for a more aromatic kinako, roast the beans in a frying pan in advance. For a finer kinako, sift it at the end.
