Cooking Instructions

Peel and cut the potatoes into 4,add to a pan add some salt and water and cook till tender.while the potatoes are cooking heat the oil In a pan over medium heat,add the onion and saute for 2 to 3 mins,add the garlic and carrots saute until carrots are tender.Add the minced meat and cook for about 5 mins, season with salt and seasoning cubes then add the spices.Add the tomato puree and flour and stir.

Add a little broth and bring to a simmer,reduce the heat to low and cook stirring occasionally until the sauce thickens,add the green pepper and basil leaves stir and put off the heat.

When the potatoes are cooked transfer to a bowl,add butter, milk,egg yolk,salt and black pepper.Mash until smooth.Preheat oven to 200c,layer the meat mixture In an oven proof dish.

Spread the potato puree over the meat mixture leveling all over,use a fork to make swirl design.Bake for 20 to 25 mins or until mashed potato is golden brown.Enjoy!

I serve it in individual ramekins that are deep, topped with my homemade mashed potatoes but it can be put into one dish and then served in individual portions.
