Mix chopped dates, water and bicarbonate soda. Set aside

In other bowl add flour and rub in butter

In a bowl beat egg and sugar till creamy and add in flour and dates mixture beat it altogether

Pour into a tin and bake at 180 for 15-20 min

Sauce method:
Place all the sauce ingredients in a saucepan and heat gently until the butter has melted. Bring it to boil stir continuously. Boil for 5-6 min until sauce thickens. - 6
Pour sauce over pudding. Enjoy!!!
