For Your Bento! Sweet and Sour Fishcake Sticks and Eggplant

I needed one more item for my bento, so I quickly whipped up one from whatever was in my fridge.
Thanks to the chikuwa, you don't need soup stock. How easy. You can add mentsuyu as seasoning, if you like, but it's easy to just use soy sauce and sugar. Recipe by mimimine

Cooking Instructions

- 2
Add oil to a small pot, lightly sauté, then add sugar, soy sauce, and water, and continue sautéing until the water content is completely reduced.

Edo-Tokyo Style Sweet Miso and Leek Pork Cutlet Bento Edo-Tokyo Style Sweet Miso and Leek Pork Cutlet Bento
This recipe is an entry for the international bento contest. I made this recipe because I wanted people to realize the goodness of foods produced and grown in the Tokyo region.Edo sweet miso has a strong sweet flavour. If you use regular miso, add a little bit of sugar to it. When I made this dish, I wanted to make a lunchbox that didn't rely on granulated dashi stock for flavour, but had a deep savouriness from the ingredients themselves. One of my favorite ten-don restaurants closed. Eggplant, Bell peppers and Chicken with Sweet and Sour Sauce Eggplant, Bell peppers and Chicken with Sweet and Sour Sauce
Green bell peppers and eggplant were in season this summer and autumn in my garden!I added some chicken breast that was on sale for around 100 yen ($1) to make dinner! It looks like sweet and sour pork so I cooked it using a similar sauce. It'll taste better when cooled if you use just a small bit of sauce. It's delicious in bento, too!-It's nice even without doubanjiang spicy bean paste!-Substitute chili oil or ichimi togarashi (japanese red chilli pepper) for the doubanjiang spicy bean paste.-Adding extra bamboo shoot, carrot, onion and shiitake mushrooms would be perfect. Like sweet and sour pork!-Do not stir fry the bell peppers too long or they'll lose their crunchiness.-Reduce the sauce at the end so that ketchup and vinegar are less acidic.
