Basic recipe for beans

I thought I should put the basic on how to cook beans since they became my everyday food. I hope it helps.
Cooking Instructions

Regular soak: put beans into a large bowl with 2-3 inches of water. Set aside for 8hrs or overnight. Drain well

Quick soak: put beans into a large pot 2-3 inches of water. Bring to a boil. Cover, remove from the heat and rest for 1 hr.

After soaking the beans and draining them put the beans in a large pot and add water, bring to a boil. Lower the heat, cover, and simmer, stirring occasionally, until bean are tender when mashed or pierced with a fork. Most beans requires 90 mins to 2 hrs. You may add salt and pepper if desired.

This is just how my family dose our baked beans. Never straight out of the can. The first time I made it for my husband he was like..U REMIXED THE BAKED BEANS!!! Either way he loved it and so has everyone who has ever tried it. We serve it with baked sausages, omlette and toast.

Well, this is technically the 4th meal with the steak and 2nd for the pork butt. Over the Easter holiday we had a cook out. My husband used the last of the sirloin to make his baked beans. I wish he’d give me the recipe lol my daughter took some pork butt and the rest went into the pot with the leftover beans. Very hearty and very delicious. Something easy to throw together in a couple of minutes when you have a Fridge full of leftovers.

I love this recipe because it is so simple and fully customizable. You can add more or less of anything to suit your taste, like if you prefer spicy, add 1/2tsp cayenne to give it a little kick, substitute the chili powder and cumin with a packet of taco seasoning. And you can multiply the recipe and freeze in 1-2cup portions for quick use in the future :ohyeaah
