Ingredients

  1. 42Club crackers 2-1/2 inches x 1 inch
  2. 1/2 cupbutter or margarine
  3. 1/2 cupsugar
  4. 1 tspvanilla extract
  5. 1 cupslivered almonds

Cooking Instructions

    Place crackers in a single layer in a foil lined 15 in. x 10 in. x 1 in. Baking pan.

    In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter.

    Add sugar; bring to a boil, stirring constantly.

    Boil for 2 minutes.

    Remove from heat; add vanilla.

    Pour evenly over crackers or spoon over crackers then spread with spoon to cover; sprinkle with nuts.

    Bake at 350°F for 10 - 12 minutes or until lightly browned.

    Immediately remove from the pan, cutting between crackers if necessary, and cool on wire racks.

    Store in an airtight container.

    Yield: 3 - 1/2 dozen.

I’ve made this several times. The butter and sugar mixture came out syrupy only once. All the other times it has come out grainy. Any suggestions on what I am doing wrong?
